OFFICIAL: France Extends Didier Deschamps’ Contract Until 2026 World Cup

France Football Federation has rewarded Head Coach Didier Deschamps with a contract extension until June 2026.

Deschamps was appointed as head coach back in July 2012 and has since led the French national team to some remarkable achievements — having won 89 games, losing 22 in 139 matches.

Under his tutelage les Blues reached the final of Euro 2016, notably won the their second World Cup in 2018 and reached the finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They have also won the 2021 Nations League and are currently in 3rd place of the FIFA Rankings.

Deschamps’ entire back room staff have also been retained. His assistant Guy Stéphan, goalkeeper coach’s Franck Raviot and physical trainer Cyril Moine will all continue their mission in the French team.

He took France to the final in Qatar but sensationally lost to Messi’s Argentina on penalties after 120 minutes of high octane football spearheaded by Kylian Mbappe.

Even before the 2026 World Cup Dechamps will have a shot at glory with the upcoming Euros in Germany which will be another test for the 1998 World Cup champion.

Zinedine Zidane has always been rumoured to be in line to replace him but the extension has put to bed all the speculations at least from now until 2026 that’s if nothing untoward happens.
