Pay your light bills on time to enjoy 24/7 power – NAPO advises Ghanaians

Ghanaians should pay for power to make the Energy Ministry sustainable, according to Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

According to him, financial shortages cause prolonged intermittent power supply, which may be prevented.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh said this when addressing the media on energy development.

To prevent overcharging, tripping lines, and burning your switch yards, he explained. There’s not much you can do if the single transformer bringing electricity to this side crashes while we’re here.

A transformer may burn and it can take two years to replace it if GRIDCo is stable and financially feasible. Without paying for our consumption, we cannot begin to sustain our needs,” he stated.

The Minister recognized recent power outages, but said it was up to GRIDCo and ECG to detect and fix them as soon as feasible.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh said that the government policy is to furnish all MDAs with prepaid meters. He claimed that although some were delivered, others were not because ECG lacked the resources.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh said that the ECG task team would continue to strive to guarantee that these institutions remain solvent.

He suggested that going to court would be their final alternative and that they will attempt to get a court order allowing them to remove money straight from these governmental institutions’ accounts.
