POLAS Establish Funding For Abused Children

A assistance fund has been set up by the Central East Regional Police Command’s Police Ladies Association to pay for the medical expenditures of fifty financially disadvantaged abuse victims.

The group made the announcement at its 70th anniversary celebration held at Kasoa, and it is anticipated that it will expedite investigations into allegations of sexual and domestic abuse in the area.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of women in law enforcement in Ghana, members of the Police Ladies Association and their counterparts from sister security services like the Ghana Immigration, Fire, Prisons, and Ambulance Services marched along Kasoa’s main streets.

They gave to the Kasoa Polyclinic and the orphanage as part of the anniversary celebration.

The Association claimed that addressing the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault, which are on the rise in the enclave, has always been its primary goal.

However, its efforts are hampered by the fact that the majority of victims and their families are unable to pay the medical investigation costs that form the backbone of the proof of abuse.

Therefore, the organisation has set aside a fund to cover the medical inquiry costs of 50 abused children with the help of Members of Parliament for Gomoa East, Awutu Senya East, and West.

Brown Vice President of Central East POLAS and the area’s crime officer is Mercy Wilson. In an interview with Obaatanpa News.

The organisation is worried that parents and guardians neglect to report instances of sexual abuse committed by family members to the authorities.

In addition to expressing happiness over the change, ASP Doris Laryea, the Central East Regional DOVVSU Coordinator, pleaded with the public to promptly report incidences of sexual abuse to the police so that the offenders might be prosecuted and punished as a deterrent to future offenders.

Anita Love Obboh Emissah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kasoa, promised to support the police in the enclave’s investigation of sexual abuse allegations. Desmond Paitoo, the MP for Gomoa East, on the other hand, urged police, particularly DOVVSU officers, to display professionalism and consistently see to it that justice is done.
