Ama Jemimah, A 27-year old pregnant woman, and resident of Yamoah Nkwanta near Papaase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region nearly lost her life after a group of land guards attacked her, which has forced her to deliver prematurely.
The victim who was eight months pregnant said that the land guards also vandalized her room and shot indiscriminately on the walls of her house.
According to her, the land guards came to their house in search of her husband who is the caretaker of the town to kill over a long standing land dispute between the people of Awutu and Gomoa, but since they couldn’t get him they attacked her instead.
Some of the eye witnesses who spoke with this source complained that several calls to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command to come to their aid have all fallen on deaf ears. They asserted that it took divine intervention for the victim’s three children to escape gunshots, however narrowly.
The Abuasuapanyin of the area, Nana Kweku Amoaquandoh has extended a call to the local government authority to as matter of urgency settle the land disputes between the two feuding groups. He explained that the people of Yamoah Nkwantah are from Gomoa but they fall under Awutu Senya West according to administrative boundary.
