A member of the communication team of the National Film Authority, Mr. Bismack Odum Sarkey says the authority is doing their best to streamline the Ghana Movie Industry by creating networks and putting measures to make the industry attractive but movie producers refusal to research and learn is slowing down the effects of the process.
According to him, the industry was not looking too good and there was the need to have an organized body that will knit the stakeholders of the industry together through the various guilds and associations.
“When you watch Ghana movies and then movies from other countries, you will realise we are a little behind time. Now, there are new ways of making and marketing movies and it’s time producers and movie makers in general must understand that.
You can’t just get up and shoot anything and expect that it attracts the right investors. The National Film Authority is doing their utmost best but if the producers refuse to upgrade their knowledge but keep using the old ways, we the NFA may not achieve what we want or it may be slow and this is the case in Ghana” he said.
Mr. Sackey made these assertions yesterday on Obaatanpa Radio’s entertainment show hosted by Ogboro Naghty DJ.
He also revealed that the authority will organise the 1st African Cinema Summit in Ghana and this will be in November this year aimed at attracting a lot of investors in to the country.
He also announced that if you are an upcoming movie maker, you can register with the authority via their website or you can also come to their office opposite Afrikiko.
