Reduce E-Levy Rate To Court Support From Ghanaians- NPP Member To Government

E-Levy

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party in the Bono Region has commended members of council of state for deciding to have their emoluments cut in order to help salvage the dire economic situation currently faced with the country. He has however advised government to listen to the Ghanaian populace and have the rate of the levy further reduced even as it continues to engage Ghanaians to accept passage of the levy.

At the back of government’s quest to have the Electronic Transactions Levy introduced, several Ghanaians have raised vile criticisms against the government with the minority in parliament becoming the worst animadversion of the policy.

The current economic woes of the country have been attributed to the failure on the part of the state to gather more revenue for the country.

At the back of this, a recent meeting between the President and Members of the Council of State saw members of the council pledging a cut in their emoluments just so the government will be able to gather more resources to cushion the toppling economy.

In view of this, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Emmanuel Nana Fosu whilst commending the council of state members has also called on Ghanaians to rally behind the government by honouring all tax obligations including accepting to pay the E-levy by describing it as the surest way to promote growth.

He has however appealed to government to have a look at the rate and have it reduced even further in order to court the sympathy of Ghanaians to accept the levy.

Meanwhile, he chided the minority and opposition to support government since the levy just like others will be sustained by successive governments.

He made this known to Obaatanpa News Mireku Nyampong in an exclusive interview.
