Ghana’s Black Stars refused to train at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on the opening day of their pre-tournament preparations.
The Stars were expected to train at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for nine-days before enplaning to Ivory Coast for AFCON 2023.
However, things took a dramatic turn when the team got to Kumasi on Monday.
The Black Stars technical team decided to use the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese, several kilometers away from Kumasi.
A statement from the Ghana Football Association said: ”After a thorough inspection of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese, the technical team led by Chris Hughton decided to move the first-day training to the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex due to the unfavorable state of the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.”
The Stars will continue training today with twenty-five players, excluding Mohammed Kudus and Inaki Williams.
