Royal Antwerp has suspended Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan for general misconduct, after the footballer was caught smoking an e-cigarette on the bench.
The former Inter Milan and Roma midfielder was seen on the bench emitting a cloud of fine particles before his team’s league match against Standard Liege in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.
On Monday, Royal Antwerp confirmed in a statement that the 34-year-old ex-Belgium midfielder has been expelled from the senior team until further notice following his unprofessional behavior.
Meanwhile smoking has been banned in Belgian stadiums.
Royal Antwerp lost the game 3-0 in Liege.
Nainggolan won the Serie A with Inter Milan in 2021 and was part of the Belgian national team that reached the quarterfinals of the 2016 European Championship.
