Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
A new cabinet with “fresh minds” is Mr Mahama’s goal.

At an NDC-organized rally titled ‘Ghana at a Crossroads’ on May 1, 2022, Finance Minister and Economic Management Team (EMT) have plunged Ghana into an economic crisis and have harmed the people, Mr Mahama said.
The Minister of Finance’s continued employment is impossible.
President Akufo-Addo should fire Finance Minister Mahama immediately, Mr Mahama advised.
On the other hand, he slammed Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, who leads the EMT, for plunging the nation into debt while posing as an economic messiah
“Ghana’s economy is one of the world’s poorest managed.” It is characterized by unsustainable public debt owing to an extraordinary budget deficit, soaring inflation, a fast devaluing currency, spiraling business and living costs, rampant corruption, violation of civil and human rights, and a general loss of investor confidence.
Dr. Bawumia, the current chairman of the economic management team (EMT), has obviously fallen from his ivory tower as a self-styled economic messiah to a poster boy, Mr Mahama added.
