t, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has authorized Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to begin formal contacts with IMF officials, requesting that the Fund back a government economic plan.
Cabinet backed the government’s plan to pursue an economic program from the Fund during a meeting on June 30th, 2022.
Ghana’s IMF participation is aimed at bolstering the country’s ability to recover from the COVID-19 epidemic and the Russian-Ukraine situation, according to a statement from Ghana’s Ministry of Finance.
