Southampton Come From Behind To Beat Chelsea

Chelsea have suffered their second defeat of the season after succumbing to a 2-1 humbling against Southampton at St Mary’s.

Raheem Sterling shot the visitors into the lead with a calm and swivel finish in the 23rd minute to score his third goal in two games for the Blues.

However Romeo Lavia fired a superb effort beyond Edouard Mendy to draw level for the hosts as Chelsea struggled for rhythm and composure.

It wasn’t a vintage game or performance by Southampton but they were the better side in most part of the game.

Thomas Tuchel’s outfit came back from recess looking assured on the ball as they try to establish a game plan but they lacked intensity in midfield and cutting edge upfront to have instigated a comeback.

Adam Armstrong scored what proved to be the winner just on the stroke of half time with a deflected effort off Kalidou Koulibaly and into the back of the net.

The results has taken Southampton to seventh on the premier league table and on level seven points with Chelsea but above them on goals scored.
