Starting My Musical Career Was Very Tough – Joe Freezer

Veteran Ghanaian hip-life artiste, Joe Frazier, has revealed that, during his era, things were really hard for him due to the kind of competition he met at his then record label.

According to him, He was among 35 great musicians under music producer Mark Okraku Mantey. You really need to be special back then before you can get a proper recording time.

Speaking about his rhyme and flow on any of his records, he did mention that he got accepted with his rhyme by music lovers and his fans hence he decided to give it his more.

Musicians are versatile hence its good to sing or rap because all those elements add up to music. Rap music is for black people hence it can be done by everywhere. Looking at the top rappers across the world, 90% are black. he said.

Recording music back then was very difficult back then since we didn’t have the current technology this generation have. Back then you need to move up and down just to record a song because studio’s were not common and the commons ones are booked most of the time.

Unlike today as where software’s can be installed on laptops and audio devices can be plugged for a moving studio. One can record anywhere they find themselves.

Speaking with DJ Ogboro Naghty on Obaatanpa Radio, Joe Freezer made it known that, hard works of past musicians kept their brand higher and makes them relevant till today. He did mention some legends like Abrewa Nana, Daddy Lumba, Tic and more. He said their hard work is still keeping them going at the mention of their names or upon playing their songs.

When asked what it takes to be relevant, Joe Freezer mentioned that, you have to be a master of your game and keep focused to winning all the time.

For Ghanaian music and musicians to get global, Joe Freezer made it known that, we need to come together as Ghanaians to push our own, He urged the media to help promote Ghana music more.
