That slap still hurts- Chris Rock says about Will Smith’s infamous slap, calls his recent apology ‘hostage’

Chris Rock commented on Will Smith’s July YouTube apology video and expressed his displeasure.

Rock responded to the video for the first time in public on Saturday (September 3), at London’s O2 Arena as part of his European stand-up tour with Dave Chappelle, according to Deadline.

“F**k your hostage video,” Rock said after previously describing Smith’s slap as having a stinging effect.

“Yes that sh*t hurt. He played Ali. I can’t even play Floyd Mayweather,” the comedian noted.

Rock came under fire in late August of this year after making a joke about the passing of Nicole Brown Simpson, the wife of O.J. Simpson, that didn’t sit well with Tanya Brown.

Rock reportedly made light of the idea of returning to the Academy Awards following the widely publicized Will Smith slap incident earlier this year while performing stand-up at the Arizona Financial Theatre in downtown Phoenix. Rock claimed that going back to the program would be like asking Simpson to “go back to the restaurant” where she left her glasses before she was savagely murdered.

Simpson’s sister described the joke as “BEYOND distasteful” in an Instagram post responding to Rock’s comments.
