Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer in Governance at Central University, has called on President Akufo Addo to consider reshuffling his ministers who are becoming complacent and inactive on the job.
Otchere Ankrah’s comments’ were made in response to a statement made by Akufo-Addo.
According to what he says, “It would seem that Akufo-Addo does not plan on making any changes to his cabinet, since the matter is not included in his diary.. Reshuffle, ooo! reshuffle, Nana Addo. reshuffle.”
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM, he stated that the President is fully aware that his appointees have failed, and he added that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will pay the political price in the next elections, and that the party should not waste time in changing non-performing ministers because it will pay the price politically.
In addition to this, he advised the President not to give the appearance that people in his administration are being rewarded for their lack of performance.
“Put your authority on the line. It’s possible that what you’re being told isn’t the whole story… the Nana Addo that we knew is not the same person that we’re seeing today; please try to move a little faster, “he had urged.
The Ghanaian government had some personnel changes in July 2019, as a result of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-cabinet Addo’s reorganization.
Catherine Afeku’s position as Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture was one of the ones that were altered as a result of the reforms.
Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih was appointed to fill the post formerly held by Sulemana Alhassan, who had been demoted to the role of Upper West Regional Minister.
Other positions that were switched during the reorganization were those of Deputy Education Minister held by Gifty Twum Ampofo and Deputy Gender, Children, and Social Protection Minister held by Freda Prempeh, respectively.
