Fede Valverde gave an interview to ‘AS’ in which he assessed how he sees Real Madrid ahead of the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals. The first leg ended 1-1, but the uncertainty does not make him lose confidence. “We’ve always been taught that we have to go all the way, so there are 90 minutes left,” he said.
Although Madrid began by taking the lead against City with a goal from Vinicius in the 36th minute, De Bruyne left the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in a draw (1-1). Everything will therefore be decided at the Etihad Stadium.
Fede Valverde explained to ‘AS’ why this tournament is so important for him. “Playing in the Champions League is special because it’s Real Madrid‘s competition. It’s always different to any other match. It moves another vibe, another energy, it’s like it’s a special dream”.
And he warned City of what awaits them in the return leg. “They’ve always taught us here that it’s all the way to the end, so there’s 90 minutes left.
Finally, he said he would like to win the UCL title with the ’15’ on his back. “It would be special to win another Champions League with Madrid and it’s only fair that it’s with the number I wear on my shirt,” he said.
“When I arrived here, this was one of the numbers that were free and as I’m not a big fan of certain numbers, I enjoyed it from the first day they gave it to me. I’m going to take great care of this jersey, with all the respect and responsibility that comes with having a place in a squad as incredible as Real Madrid’s,” he concluded.
