Thomas Partey Scores As Arsenal Breeze Pass Tottenham In North London Derby

Arsenal earned a well deserved 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in North London derby on Saturday.

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey opened the scoring with an excellent strike before Gabriel Jesus’ poachers effort and Granit Xhaka’s clincher enabled the Gunners to extend their lead at the top of the league with Kane grabbing the consolation for Spurs.

Arsenal held the game by the scruff of the neck from the outset as Spurs struggled for rhythm and composure.

Partey got the breakthrough after twenty minutes of play with a one time sumptuous hit into the top right corner but Harry Kane leveled from the spot before half time to bring his side back into the game.

Mikel Arteta’s side did not slow down after the restart as Gabriel Jesus capitalized on Spurs’s defensive errors to shoot the Gunners back in front just four minutes into the second half.

Things got a bit complicated for the visitors as Emerson Royal got sent off for an ankle-high challenge on Gabriel Martinelli and five minutes later Ganit Xhaka added the third with a fine finish from inside the penalty box to seal a vital win for Arsenal.

Arsenal are on top of the league with 21 points, four points more than second placed Man City who has a game in hand.
