Three (3) persons have been shot dead as suspected armed robbers attacked and exchanged fire with some small scale miners who were returning from their mining site at Adaboi in Upper Denkyira West district of the Central region.
District police commander, ASP. Ernest Agyakum in an interview said, the incident happened around 8pm yesterday but when the police got to the scene, two (2) people were already lying dead with others injured.
The police chief explain that, they quickly rushed the injured victims to the hospital but upon their return to pick up the lifeless bodies they three (3) with the third suspected to have dies later.
One of the injured persons is said to be in critical condition and has been transferred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is receiving treatment
The ASP continued that the increase in robbery is as a result perceived business competition among the miners when he was quizzed about the reason for the rise of robbery in the area.
He stressed that they connive with the robbers to attack their competitors in the mining business in order to cripple them and their business.
The three bodies has been deposited at the Dunkwa On – Offin government hospital morgue awaiting for autopsy report whiles the police also doing investigation in the matter.
