UCL Roundup: Group A In Focus — Liverpool Cruise To 7-1 Victory Over Rangers While Napoli Run Riot At The Stadio Maradona

Napoli proved to be too good for Ajax by hitting four past the Dutch side to earn qualification to the knockout stages. Having lost the reverse encounter 6-1 at home, it was always going to be tough for Ajax in the sold-out Stadio Maradona.

Napoli dominated the first half after going ahead with two early goals from Lozano and Raspadori but Davy Klaasen appeared to have brought Ajax back into it when he pulled one back after the restart.

However Luciano Spalletti’s side added the third via a penalty in the 62nd minute while Steven Bergwijn reduced the deficit again only for Victor Osimhen to grab the fourth five minutes later to ensure the Serie A side are unbeaten in Group A.

Elsewhere in the Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow Liverpool came from a goal down to thrash Rangers 7-1.

Roberto Firmino canceled out Scott Arfield’s 17th minute opener with a thumping header before putting the Reds ahead in the second half when Gomez literally put the ball on the plate for the Brazilian (who doesn’t miss these day) to tuck away the second following a counterattack.

Darwin Nunez got the third before Mohammed Salah came off the bench to net the quickest hat-trick in Champions League history while youngster Harvey Elliot also inking his name in the scoresheet to seal a resounding victory the Premier League side.

Napoli leads the group with 12 points while Liverpool are second with nine.
