Per the blockage of SIM cards, the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization will have time to revise the schedule for the intended exercise and finalise the fate of those who have still registered owing to various reasons.
According to a Ghanaweb publication, a new date and the associated procedures will reportedly be announced early next week, but the punitive measures that were in place earlier in September will reportedly be reinstated.
Among other things, those without registered SIM cards won’t be able to use data services, make calls, or receive calls.
The report states that these clients can contact *404# to begin the registration procedure and will also receive their unique numbers by SMS.
It declared that users of Telesol, Busy, and Surfline, who are a part of the group of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) providers, would be given more time to complete client registration.
It verified that the roadmap had been submitted to the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, the body in charge of formulating policy, post-deadline by the sector regulator for final approval prior to implementation.
