VIDEO: I paid Ghc200 bribe to NIA Staff before getting a replaced Ghana card – NPP Communicator

Ghana Card

A New Patriotic party (NPP) communicator in the Ashanti Region Archibald Ntiri Acquah Gyasi says that until all come on board to deal with institutional corruption, the country will go nowhere despite efforts by the government.

Recounting his situation where he had to pay a bribe to replace his missing Ghana card in Kumasi, the NPP man said it was appalling that individuals engaged by the state try to make more money than the state all because of systemic institutional corruption.

He was speaking to the expose on the school place system, where some staff and others stakeholders in education have been arrested for taking monies before placing students in their preferred schools.

He made the assertion on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM

“My Ghana card got missing and I went to Adum to register.  I did not reveal my identity; I did not tell them I am a member of the New Patriotic Party or a party communicator. I did the replacement; they had to capture my details so it confirms I am the person they are dealing with. They asked about my mother’s name and when they finished, I voluntarily gave them 150 cedis, (one lady who captured by information 50 cedis and another gentleman 100 cedis)”

“When it was time for me to go for my cards the guy told me that they had run out of cards. They told me if I am able to pay some money they will get me my card. They said I should pay 200 cedis and I will get my card. I sent 200 cedis and the next day I had my card given to me,the next day… Adum the NIA office there”, he claimed

“I paid the money to be able to have evidence. I can discuss this on radio. Corruption is so endemic in state institutions like the DVLA, Passport Office, the police etc. I paid the money because I wanted to walk through the process”, he stressed

“I am a proponent of good systems, our systems are just not working, and we need to fix them. Go to Komfo Anokye Nursing training college a lady had 6-A’s but was not picked go there and see the people they have picked “he lamented.
