Florentino Perez, President of Spanish football giants, Real Madrid, personally congratulated the team after their Champions League semi-final victory over Bayern Munich this week.

After the team had staged a late comeback to beat the German visitors on May 8, 2024; the team went on a victory lap around the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before heading to the changing room to continue the celebration.

Real Madrid’s social media handles have shared footage of the moment the club president arrived in the changing room hugging and shaking hands with staff including manager Carlo Ancelloti and most of the players present.

About the game:

Two late goals from substitute Joselu inspired the Los Blancos to a 2-1 win and a spot in the final slated for the Wembley Stadium.

After a tough and scoreless first half, Bayern opened the scoring in the second half through Alphonso Davies, who found the top corner with a stunning weaker-foot strike.

Bayern were well on their way to the final after scoring in the 70th minute to lead 3-2 on aggregate.

However, the home side pulled a surprise on the German side, scoring two goals in three minutes to turn the tie around.

Joselu restored parity in the 88th minute, tapping in a rebound after Manuel Neuer fumbled a strike from Vinicius Jr.

The Spanish grabbed a memorable brace after connecting with Antonio Rudiger’s cross from close range in the 91st minute. The goal initially appeared to be offside, but it stood after a VAR review.
