The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has chastised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accusing it of mismanaging Ghana’s economy.
Fifi Kwetey said the NDC left a strong and sound economy for the NPP, which, he claims, has now been torn to tatters after nearly eight years in power.
Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, on Saturday, August 24, the NDC’s chief scribe said the NPP must be voted out for bringing Ghana’s economy to its knees.
“When we were leaving office in 2016, we delivered to our friends in the NPP, a sound economy that was marked by sustainable public debt with a debt to GDP ratio that stood at 55.6 percent. A stable credit rating of B-. A low budget deficit of 6.1 percent, and a declining inflation rate that stood around 15 percent.
“We handed over to them a depreciation of currency that stood at about 9.6 percent. We handed over to them a very strong manufacturing sector. We handed over to them two massive oil fields, and we handed over to them a cocoa sector that was thriving.”
