Wicked leaders will be judged – Prophet Kofi Oduro ‘roars’ as galamsey begins to bite Ghanaians

Prophet Oduro

The head pastor of the Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has chastised leaders in Ghana for allowing illegal mining to thrive in the country.

An infuriated Prophet Oduro, while speaking to members of his congregation on Sunday, September 8, 2024, said the country has failed to deal with galamasey because the people involved in it are being empowered by ‘greedy’ people in authority.

“The people doing this nonsense have people who are in authority powering them. One pump action gun is GHC40,000 so who buys pump action guns and give to these people who are able to face the police and the soldiers? They can face them because they have been empowered by people in authority. They have eaten their cake and they’re still looking for it. Wicked leaders will be judged.”

The outspoken pastor admired by many for his ability to speak out on issues not going right in the country, said most people in authority in Ghana are “Greedy people” who are only concerned about “money over everybody’s life.”

Successive governments in Ghana have promised to end galamsey in the country but that has only remained a promise.

The current government, in its early days set up a taskforce to fight the menace but their work was short-lived and illegal mining activities continue in several mining communities in the country.

Water bodies and forest reserves keep being destroyed by the ‘enemies of the state’ and yet there seems to be no solution in sight.

With the increasing threat to human life, Ghana Medical Association and other health unions have called for a ban on small-scale mining in the country.

Reacting to this, Prophet Kofi Oduro said “Ghana Medical Association is telling the republic of Ghana that stop every activity, whether it’s galamsey and small scale mining or whatever, stop it immediately. Because now we are having children with two heads, children with only three fingers, if it comes more, 17 fingers.

“We are having birth deformations from the chemicals of this menace and we have a president of this country, we have a cabinet of this country, we have a parliament of this country who looks on irresponsibly.”

While commending Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his efforts to stop galamsey in his territory, the pastor took a swipe at the church for staying silent on the issue.

“Look at the way the church is quiet about this menace. Your members are going to be dying of kidney failures and leukemia and all kinds of cancers from this.”

Recounting how a woman he met at a pharmacy asked him to pray for her 16-year-old daughter who had stage 5 kidney failure, Prophet Oduro said prophets who only talk about the outcome of the upcoming elections are irresponsible.

“so when your prophets, some of them want to talk about ‘god has revealed to me who will win this election,” you are very irresponsible. We don’t care about this election, we care about sensible people who will do sensible things.”
