Agbobloshie Relocation: Onion Sellers Swerve Greater Accra Minister And Relocate At Gomoa Dominase

Greater Accra Minister

As part of the agenda of the government to make Accra a cleaner city in Africa, the Greater Accra Coordinating Council led by Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey has asked onion sellers at Agbobloshie to relocate to the newly prepared place at Adjen Kotoko in the Ga South Municipal by the close of today.

To make their movement easier, the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) through the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has given GHS 500,000 plus GHc50000 top up to the traders for transportation.

The onion sellers are to receive GHS 300,000 with GHS 250,000 to be shared among other traders.

However, Obaatanparadioonline.com has learnt that a cross-section of the Onion Sellers who vacated from Agbobloshie have refused to go to Adjen Kotoko, which is the dedicated place for them, rather they have relocated to Gomoa Dominase in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region.

Those who have relocated to Gomoa Dominase told Obaatanparadioonline.com Reporter Mireku Nyampong that they are okay with their new settlement and expressed that Gomoa Dominase is convenient to their customers than Adjen Kotoko because they believed the majority of their customers are from the Central and Western region

“Comparatively, here is better than Adjen Kotoko because there is no traffic when coming to this place, unlike Adjen Kotoko that you will go through a lot of stressful vehicular traffic before you get there”, an onion seller said

Obaatanparadioonline.com checks from Agbobloshie revealed that there was no single onion seller but what one could see were debris and old structures

On his side, the Minister has explained that the decongestion exercise is part of his #Let’s make Accra work’ campaign to improve conditions in the national capital.

Mr Quartey has also said under his leadership, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), would strive to provide lasting solutions to developmental challenges in the region, and ensure its swift transformation into a national capital of repute.

The Minister has promised to put an end to trading along major streets in Accra because he believed that their activities generate a lot of filth
