Car set ablaze at University of Ghana campus as Commonwealth and Sarbah students clash

A fight broke out amongst many students at the University of Ghana, Legon. Students from Mensah-Sarbah hall and Commonwealth hall were the ones to get into a fight with one other.

During the time that the university security staff stood by helplessly, a vehicle was also set on fire.

In the end, police officers came on the scene in front of Mensah-Sarbah hall to de-escalate the situation and avoid a further escalation of the fighting that had been going on.

According to the account of a witness who was there during the incident, the statue of John Mensah Sarbah was also obliterated.

That is what he stated, “The Commonwealth has removed the remnants of the monument from its grounds. Just now, four police trucks drove to the UG guesthouse in order to park there, and they will remain there aa… absolutely no outside interference in any kind. They are getting closer and closer to the location of the aftermath of the event presently.”

“The students are making fun of them with hoots and hollers.”
