Detor – The Rise of A Warrior Hunter (A Ghanaian Movie In A League Of Its Own)

Detor

There is a quiet storm that seems to be taking over the airwaves, it’s the marketing and promotional activities for the new film from Organized Khaoz to be released in March 2024.

The film entitled ‘Detor – The Rise of A Warrior Hunter’ is a retelling of the stories from 17th century Ngotsie. It is an entirely Ghanaian production and boasts of an ensemble cast that includes top tier names in the industry such as Brian Angels, Akofa Edjeani, Adrew Tandoh Adote, Kojo Delong, Edinam Atatsi, Solomon Fixon-Owoo, Gadede Segbefia, Jenny Biney to name a few.

The ensemble cast has over thirty additional performers in the credits and from Teaser 1 that was release on 8th January 2024 and Trailer 1 that was subsequently released on 15th January 2024 it is evident that this production quality is on a level that is not familiar on the Ghanaian production scene. It also sends the message to the world that the Ghanaian films is still one to reckon with.

The promotional campaign has been meticulously planned and the execution is one to be emulated. The promotional campaign which was announced to be a 90-day programme commenced with a social media blitz, and online promotion across all media platforms with regular daily posts of images of scenes and snippets of dialogue from the movie.

We have also seen interviews from cast and crew from the production and a 10-minute interview with the Director/Writer of the film, Mark Cofie Jnr. In his interview the Director introduced the story, locations and shared some behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage from the set of the film. These interviews are on the Organized Khaoz YouTube channel. The production certainly didn’t hold back on detail and volume of work which is obvious from the promotional campaign.

At the time of going to print, the promotional campaign has seen 50 days of activities including a billboard-rollout campaign with Dreamline Consult, the Outdoors Partner, and online tucket sales through the ticketing partner @veetickets

On Friday 23rd February they  promised the release of the second Teaser and this is certainly not one to miss.

The Film is scheduled to be premiered on Thursday 21st March 2024 at the Snap Cinema in the AMA Building behind The Octagon. This will be followed by five shows on 22nd and 23rd March before general release at O-zone Cinema, Oyarifa from 24th March 2024.

It has been impossible to miss the two hashtags #Detor and #Story4Dages which are the trademark of this promotional campaign.

If the first teaser and trailers have been anything to go by, then the next teaser promised for release on the 23rd February, 2024 will be something to look forward to.

For the Movie itself, we wait expectantly to see if it will redefine Ghana cinema.

20th February 2024.
