Election 2024: Mahama has a superior vision for Ghana – UG lecturers

University of Ghana

A group of lecturers from the University of Ghana has endorsed John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the December 7, elections, citing the party’s ‘superior vision and commitment to Ghana’s restoration.’

In a statement released on Tuesday, December 2, the academics emphasised that their support for Mahama and the NDC was rooted in professional judgment rather than political allegiance.

“We have chosen to name John Mahama and the NDC not out of partisan fervour, but because the evidence of their superior vision and commitment to Ghana’s restoration is clear and compelling. Our endorsement stems not from political allegiance, but from our professional judgment as analysts of policy and society.

“To remain neutral in times of moral crisis is to side with the oppressor. As Kwame Nkrumah taught us, the university must be the conscience of the nation. Today, that conscience calls us to speak, to guide, and to stand firmly on the side of Ghana’s redemption,” part of the statement read.

The group, therefore, called on Ghanaians to vote for the former president, asserting that this choice would restore hope, rebuild trust, and reignite Ghana’s future.

“The future of our nation hangs in the balance. As academics who have dedicated our lives to nurturing the next generation of leaders, we implore you, On December 7, 2024, to let your thumb speak for Ghana. We know you can do it. Vote John Mahama and the NDC to restore hope, rebuild trust, and reignite the Ghanaian dream.”
