Fashion entrepreneur claims 80% of Ghanaian youth are somewhat lazy in a flashback.

Karen Kash Kane

In February, a Ghanaian fashion entrepreneur, Karen Kash Kane, expressed her belief that the country’s persistent unemployment rate was partly due to laziness among the youth. During a television interview on Joy Prime TV, she claimed that approximately 80% of Ghanaian youth were somewhat lazy, although she didn’t provide a specific basis for this figure.

Kane highlighted that many young people had approached her seeking job opportunities, but she sometimes questioned their readiness to take on responsibilities from employers. She attributed the issue to a combination of factors, including the educational system and upbringing.

As the owner of a business for over a decade, Kane shared her concerns about the workforce’s work ethic and dedication. She emphasized her own hard work and dedication to her business but felt that some employees lacked the same level of commitment, often making excuses or complaining.

Since her remarks, Kane’s views have gained widespread attention on social media and have received both support and criticism from various quarters.
