Ghana and Gambia Energy Ministers

Gambia Minister of Energy, Mr Fafa Sanyang paid a visit to Ghana Minister of Energy, Mr Mathew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as Napo to discuss issues of mutual interest

The Energy Minister of Gambia was accompanied by the senior management staff of his ministry as well as heads of some of their key agencies in the petroleum downstream sector.

For the past few days, the team has been in Ghana to understudy Ghana’s methods of regulating the downstream industry, particularly concerning lessons from the National Petroleum Agency (NPA).

The Gambian Minister reported that his team has been very impressed with the systems Ghana has put in place to improve the quality of services customers receive and are returning to the Gambia with a lot of notes.

“I was happy to hear their study tour was beneficial and assured them my doors are always open, should they require any other assistance”, Napo said

Hon Mathew Opoku Prempeh took the opportunity to also remind the delegation of the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Gambia especially in the area of education and advised the team to begin the process of joining the Africa Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) to enable Africa to speak with one voice on petroleum-related issues in the global space
