Hawa Koomson tackles premix fuel issues in first meeting

The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD), Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has had her first meeting with the board of the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) across the four coastal regions.

The meeting was to acquaint them and discuss issues confronting premix fuel distribution in the country.

At the meeting, the Honourable Minster noted that the OMCs play important roles in the distribution of premix fuel to the Landing Beaches Committees (LBCs), set up to empower fishermen to run premix fuel stations at the landing beaches.

She therefore required the LBCs to select an Oil Marketing Company to supply them with premix fuel, and use the  proceeds from the sales in developing the fishing communities.

Hon. Hawa Koomson has however, advised staff of the MoFAD to exhibit transparency, teamwork and loyalty in order to achieve the set objectives and targets of the ministry.

According to her, this will help promote government’s agenda and the mandate of the ministry.
The Hon. Minister gave the advice during her maiden meeting with Directors and staff of the Ministry.

Welcoming the Minister, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Levina Owusu assured her of the staff’s preparedness to work together to promote and achieve set objectives.
