Minister for Fisheries and aquaculture, Mp for Awutu Senya East Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson has hinted that, no illegal way of fishing will be accepted this year 2022.
According to the sector minister, the ministry during last year sessions puts a lot of measures in place to stop this illegal way of fishing and her outfit has tightening the measures to avoid such Activities this year 2022.
The minister also applaud the the fishermen for their compartment during the last year’s closing season.
She added that, the ministry has fist of its kind to celebrate a festival call fish festival in Ghana this year
She disclosed this to Obaatanpa News Mireku Nyampong during an exclusive interview.
Tackling on pre- mix fuel, the minister admitted there was a big challenge facing the ministry and the fishermen when it comes to the distribution of pre mix fuel to the various fishing communities over the years. But said, new strategy has been adopted to end the diversion and the holding of the fuel by some fishermen to sell it at costive price.
She said, to avoid this above mention challenge, the vice president Dr Bawumia has charge her the sector minister to introduce a card for all fishermen of which they can access their own pre mix fuel through their card when they want to buy fuel to avoid one person holding the pre mix to sell at their own price.
