The Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, has expressed optimism that the National Democratic Congress’ manifesto will bring hope to Ghanaians and improve their lives.
Speaking to Citi News ahead of the NDC manifesto launch in Winneba, Dr. Pelpuo emphasized the NDC’s commitment to serving the people of Ghana and addressing the country’s economic and democratic challenges.
He highlighted the current state of the economy, citing corruption, destruction, and crisis, and stressed the need for change.
Dr. Pelpuo assured that the NDC is dedicated to creating value, boosting the economy, and giving confidence to Ghanaians, regardless of their background.
The MP outlined key aspects of the manifesto, including the creation of a 24-hour economy that will employ numerous young people and provide opportunities for sellers and buyers to thrive.
He stressed that the NDC’s vision is to enable Ghanaians to prosper in their own country, rather than seek opportunities abroad.
He said, “The economy itself is on its knees, there are huge levels of corruption. This is the time for the NDC to move in, not just to win power, but to save the people of Ghana from this state of affliction, which is keeping only family members, only friends in power, and which sees corruption as a normal thing. And people are shocked about what is happening, so it is a commitment to change.”
“It is a commitment to create value, to make sure the economy is up and going, and to give confidence to the Ghanaians that from wherever you come from, whoever you are, you can rise to the top. You can be a very important person in the future administration we are going to create, and the NDC is there for you and the people.”
“The content of this manifesto is going to demonstrate very strongly that we are going to propose a change, and that the 24-hour economy we are going to create will employ huge numbers of young people, and create a situation where sellers and buyers can be happy that they are doing so, and can give confidence to Ghanaians that they will stay in Ghana and be able to prosper, not necessarily running to another country. So, it’s a very important transition we are going to make.”
